Who doesn’t love a free game? As a part of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary celebrations, a free version of Gran Turismo 7 will be made available to PS4 and PS5 users this holiday season. Here’s what we know about the game, its release date, and what to expect:
The free game, known as My First Gran Turismo, doesn’t have an official release date, but many fans think it will be released on or around December 3rd, 2024, coinciding with PlayStation’s anniversary date. At the very least, we should know more about it by the time The Game Awards 2024 rolls around in mid-December. As spotted by Gematsu, it has also just received an age rating in Taiwan, meaning that its release must be coming soon.
My First Gran Turismo (PS5, PS4) has been rated in Taiwan. This was part of the first wave of PlayStation 30th anniversary announcements. Officially, it's due out "this holiday," so it'll likely arrive this week or next since December 3 is the actual anniversary.

Sony has confirmed that My First Gran Turismo will include some fan-favorite cars, racetracks, and racing events that will “evoke nostalgia and excitement of the very first GT experience”. Even though the game’s name might suggest it’s geared towards beginners, Sony claims that it aims to “attract diverse players of all skill levels”, meaning that there’ll be something for everyone in this free version. There’s been no official comment on the size of the game, but Gran Turismo 7 has received hefty post-launch support and additional content since its release in March 2022, so fans have high hopes for a decent amount of content and gameplay in the free version.
So, whether you’re a seasoned GT racer, or you’ve always wanted to give it a go, My First Gran Turismo seems like a no-brainer for PlayStation owners! They’re also hosting free esports tournaments, launching the Shapes of Play merch collection, and releasing several nostalgic digital soundtracks from your fave PS classics, including God of War, Unit 13, and Twisted Metal. PlayStation players will also be pleased to see that PS is taking its 30th anniversary seriously, and actually giving its player base something (free) to celebrate the occasion.
