Users of Windows 11’s big “24H2” annual feature upgrade. have discovered further problems with the update. This is apparently a fairly widespread error that prevents PCs and laptops made by Dell from shutting down, as reported by Windows Latest. Hibernation also does not work on affected systems.
A support document from the manufacturer states that this is a compatibility problem with Windows 11 24H2, related to the Dell Encryption App. Version 11.9 of Dell’s software is not compatible with the update and prevents the PC from shutting down properly.

That means Dell users are still being offered version 24H2 and run the risk of no longer being able to shut down their system properly.
How to solve the problemMicrosoft itself has not addressed the problem, but fortunately Dell was able to provide a solution. With the new version 11.10 of the Dell Encryption App, the error should no longer occur. The new software version is automatically loaded onto your system when the problem is detected, so you don’t have to do anything else.
There are currently no reports of other manufacturers who have discovered a similar problem with 24H2. However, there appear to be sound problems on Asus PCs, as Dolby Digital is no longer installed with this version of Windows 11. If this problem occurs, you will need to download the drivers yourself (see manufacturer FAQ).
