Among Us developer, Inner Sloth announces a 3D version of the hit social deduction game, with a Steam Next Fest demo releasing next week.
A teaser trailer was released on February 20, 2025, showcasing what to expect from the upcoming re-imaging of Among Us.
The game is currently listed on Steam but has no release date at the time of writing this article.
There’s nothing necessarily new here, using the same Skeld map and models from Among Us VR, one of the best virtual reality games to play.
3D will not require a virtual reality headset, such as the Meta Quest 3S, to play, allowing players with mouse and keyboard to join lobbies with VR users. However, 3D players will not be able to play in lobbies from the original 2D game.
A new Stardust currency will be featured in the game for purchasing cosmetic items. Post-launch content will include new modes, hats/costumes, tasks, collaboration events, and more.
Much like its VR counterpart, 3D is set to include native proximity chat, new and returning mini-games with a first-person twist, and more. Only time will tell whether it will match some of the best PC games available.
Despite the first-person perspective and 3D environment, it’s still the same card-swiping, vent-jumping shenanigans you’ve grown to love or hate.
On the Steam page, the game’s description reads, “Teamwork and betrayal in space… now in 3D! In this party game, Crewmates work together to complete tasks before one or more Impostors kill everyone aboard. Experience all of the same deception and deceit as the original Among Us in all three dimensions.”
The Steam Next Fest 2025 is set to debut next week, and players will be able to get their hands on the Among Us 3D demo during the event. The demo will not include features from the full game, such as VR cross-play and certain cosmetics.
System requirementsAs listed on Steam, these are the minimum system requirements for PC users wishing to join in on the imposter mayhem.
