Apple’s annual hardware event, dubbed “Awe Dropping,” is scheduled for September 9, where the technology giant is expected to present its new iPhone 17 series, alongside other products, including new AirPods Pro, Apple Watch models, and accessories.
The iPhone 17 series is anticipated to be the central announcement at the event. While the lineup is expected to consist of four models, a notable change may be the introduction of an iPhone 17 Air, potentially replacing the previous Plus model. This new “Air” variant is rumored to be the thinnest and lightest iPhone to date, positioning itself between the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max within the product range.
Therefore, the potential iPhone 17 lineup could include the standard iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Pro, the rumored iPhone 17 Air, and the high-end iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The AirPods Pro are also slated for a refresh. The AirPods Pro (3rd Generation) may be revealed at the “Awe Dropping” event. These new earbuds are expected to feature hardware enhancements over the existing model, powered by an upgraded version of the H2 chip currently found in the AirPods Pro (2nd Generation).
Further enhancements to the AirPods Pro (3rd Generation) are expected, including improved Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) for a more immersive audio experience. Battery life improvements are also anticipated, allowing for extended usage. Additionally, the new AirPods Pro may incorporate a heart rate monitoring feature, similar to the features found in the Powerbeats Pro 2.
The Apple Watch Series 11 is also expected to receive iterative updates. The smartwatch is projected to maintain the flat-edged design of its predecessor, but is expected to feature an LTPO screen, potentially leading to improved power efficiency and battery life. An S11 system-on-chip (SoC) will likely power the Apple Watch Series 11. However, significant architectural upgrades are not anticipated, with the chip potentially utilizing a similar design to the S10 and S9 chips from previous Apple Watch generations.
Speculation suggests the inclusion of blood pressure monitoring in the Apple Watch Series 11, a feature that would mark its debut in Apple’s standard smartwatch lineup.
In contrast to the Apple Watch Series 11, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is rumored to receive more substantial upgrades at the upcoming event. A key addition could be satellite connectivity. This functionality would allow users to contact emergency services through a satellite connection in remote locations lacking Wi-Fi or cellular coverage. Should this materialize, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 could present strong competition to Garmin’s range of smartwatches.
Beyond satellite connectivity, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 may feature a slightly larger display with a resolution of 422 x 514 pixels. Moreover, blood pressure monitoring could also be incorporated into this high-end smartwatch model.
New accessories are also anticipated. Apple is expected to introduce a new TechWoven case as a MagSafe accessory for the iPhone 17 series. These TechWoven cases are expected to be manufactured from sustainable materials, similar to Apple’s FineWoven cases released in 2023.
The TechWoven cases are expected to be available in a range of five colors: Black, Brown, Blue, Green, and Purple.
Leaked images indicate that the TechWoven cases are designed with two lanyard holes on each side for added convenience. The cases may also feature a non-slip, fabric-like texture to improve grip and handling.
