Apple TV+ can now be streamed on Android devices thanks to new app

Galaxy device holders can now rejoice as Apple TV+ videos can finally be streamed after a version of the app for Google’s Android has been released.

This comes more than eight years after the Apple TV app was first debuted, with the technology giant adding the new version onto the Google Play store on Wednesday (February 12).

The Android version can be downloaded for free worldwide and is compatible with all of the company’s devices including the smartphones and tablets which have Android 10 and later.

It’s been a long-time coming, but it’s in a press release where the company explains perhaps why it’s taken a while to arrive: “the Apple TV app for Android was built from the ground up to deliver Android users a familiar and intuitive interface.”

It’s through the app where Android users can now also subscribe to Apple TV+ and MLS Season Pass using their Google Play account on Android mobile and Google TV devices.

“The Apple TV app on Android includes key features like Continue Watching to pick up where a user left off across all their devices, and Watchlist to keep track of everything they want to watch in the future.

“The app streams seamlessly over Wi-Fi or a cellular connection, and includes the ability to download to watch offline.”

Android and Apple: What is coming up on Apple TV in 2025?

The platform, which competes with other streaming services like Netflix and Disney+, is including a focus on live-streamed sports this year – like the others.

“Just in time for Major League Soccer’s 2025 season, Android users can also subscribe to MLS Season Pass.

“Available through the Apple TV app, the subscription service offers fans every MLS match in one dedicated location with no blackouts, plus an array of exclusive content, in-depth coverage, and analysis.

“All 30 MLS clubs will be in action as the league kicks off its 30th season the weekend of February 22.”

A weekly primetime show named Sunday Night Soccer is also new for 2025, alongside a series of new shows. These include Dope Thief, The Studio, Side Quest, Government Cheese, and Your Friends & Neighbors.
