It’s February, which means this year’s edition of the public domain game jam, Gaming Like It’s 1929, has come to a close. And we got a record-breaking number of entries this time around, with 34 games submitted (edging out the previous record of 31).
That means we’ve got a lot of work to do judging all the entries and choosing our winners in six categories. We’ll aim to get through all the games this month, and then we’ll announce the winners and begin our series of winner spotlight posts — but you don’t need to wait for us! You can check out all the entries right now, give these designers the audience they deserve, and make your own picks for the best of the bunch.
As always, a huge thank you to everyone who submitted a game! Every year we find it harder and harder to narrow things down to just six winners because of all the creativity and design skill on display, and I have no doubt that this year will be the same. We’ll be back with the winners as soon as we can, but until then, thanks for helping us celebrate the growing public domain and show why it matters.
And remember, it’s never too early to start looking at which works will be entering the public domain next January, when we’ll be exiting the roaring 20s and kicking off a new decade with Gaming Like It’s 1930!
