Failure. Long nights. Years without profit.
That’s where Serdar Kilicbay, founder of Trexo Innovation, started.
Before launching successful Kickstarter campaigns, he spent years trying to build a technology company from scratch—with no marketing experience, no crowdfunding knowledge, and very little money.
In this episode of the Crowdfunding Demystified podcast, host Salvador Briggman sits down with Serdar to talk about his journey from mechanical engineer to founder of multiple crowdfunded products.
His first product—a gimbal he began developing in 2015—was supposed to take six months. Instead, it took three and a half years. During that time, he worked 16 hours a day, learning everything from electronics to supply chains.
Even after winning a Red Dot Design Award, the sales never came.
That’s when Serdar realized something important:

One of those products—Trexo Wheels—went on to raise $77,255 on Kickstarter from over 287 backers.
During our conversation, Serdar shared several key crowdfunding lessons.
You’ll learn:
Serdar left creators with one powerful piece of advice:
Don’t plan how to build the product first. Plan how to sell it.
