Google I/O 2026: May 19-20 event confirmed via Gemini puzzles
Google I/O 2026 is scheduled for May 19 and 20. The company will stream keynotes and sessions, including the opening keynote which typically features major announcements.

The conference provides information on upcoming Android changes and Google’s AI initiatives, such as updates for Gemini. Sundar Pichai announced the dates on February 17, 2026.
The dates were revealed after a puzzle was completed on the I/O website. This year’s puzzle utilized Gemini and featured multiple “builds.”
Puzzle components included:
- A mini-golf game with a virtual caddy powered by Gemini.
- A nonogram where Gemini generates game boards.
- Word Wheel, which uses Gemini 3 for level design automation.
- Super Sonicbot, using Gemini for microphone mechanics to control the Android Bot’s altitude.
- Stretchy Cat, which utilizes Gemini 3 as a stage designer to balance game mechanics and difficulty.
