iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max to have liquid cooling

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to feature liquid cooling chambers to improve heat management during intensive usage. This information was shared by Chinese leaker Setsuna Digital on Weibo.

According to Setsuna Digital, both flagship models will utilize vapor cooling chambers, referred to as “steam cavity,” to enhance heat dissipation. This development may alleviate overheating issues identified in earlier models, particularly the iPhone 16 Pro, which faced thermal challenges during multitasking.

The A19 Pro chip, anticipated to power the iPhone 17 Pro series, is said to incorporate stronger thermal management capabilities. Instant Digital noted that “high load and high performance basically do not reduce the frequency,” implying a more efficient operation under demanding conditions.

Previous iterations of the iPhone, including the iPhone 15 Pro, experienced overheating mainly due to software issues involving third-party apps, as explained by Apple. Software updates were subsequently released to mitigate these problems. The current iPhone 16 Pro models employ a graphene sheet for heat management, but the addition of liquid cooling technology in the iPhone 17 series may further enhance their performance.

The rumors around the iPhone 17 series have generated mixed reports regarding the availability of the liquid cooling technology, initially suggested to be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. However, further leaks indicate it could be a feature across all iPhone 17 models.

As the launch of the iPhone 17 series approaches, further details are expected to emerge, helping to clarify the specifications and features of Apple’s next flagship devices.
