A trusted leaker has claimed that Samsung’s upcoming Wide Fold will feature a ~4,800mAh battery, positioning the device between its own Galaxy Z Fold lineup and Apple’s anticipated iPhone Fold in terms of power capacity.
The battery size represents a 400mAh increase over the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 4,400mAh cell, according to tipster Digital Chat Station’s post on Weibo. However, the same source indicated that Apple’s iPhone Fold is expected to carry a significantly larger ~5,500mAh battery. The leaker also claimed that Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 will include a 5,000mAh battery, which would exceed the Wide Fold’s capacity.
Samsung is expected to launch the Wide Fold later this year alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The device is reportedly designed as a direct response to Apple’s iPhone Fold, which is tipped to feature a folding display with a wide aspect ratio.
The Wide Fold will reportedly include a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and a 7.6-inch folding screen. The inner screen is expected to adopt a wide aspect ratio optimized for video viewing, departing from the squarer proportions of existing Z Fold devices.
Samsung has not officially confirmed specifications or launch timing for the Wide Fold.
