Playnetic gains key Ontario supplier license

Playnetic, a relatively new newcomer to the gambling scene, has been awarded approval by the Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO). The Canadian watchdog has allowed the business-to-business provider to enter the country’s market as it continues to grow.

Ontario is a particularly hard state to get into, as the AGCO is incredibly strict. With Playnetic getting the pass, it’s the latest win for the company. With Ontario cleared, it’s expected that Playnetic will start to enter other areas of Canada quite rapidly.

For now, the company is reportedly working with casinos and other operators in the area, with the end goal of coming online in the next few months.

Speaking in a press release, CEO Dan Phillips said:

“Acquiring AGCO approval for our gaming-related supplier application is undoubtedly a big step for Playnetic.

“The new license not only secures our first Canadian market entry, but also reaffirms Playnetic’s position as a trusted provider in iGaming and underlines our commitment to compliance and operational excellence.”

Playnetic has spent the last few months working on Europe, where it gained a “foothold” with approval from the Malta Gaming Authority. It has also managed to get into the Italian market, but has done so through a partnership with Microgame.

In March, Playnetic will supply Microgame with its games, spanning “over 50 regulated Italian operators”.

Playnetic went live in December 2023. It then debuted at ICE London, an iGaming and gambling convention in February 2024. During that time, the company has gained licenses in Sweden and Romania, as well as the aforementioned Malta and Italy.

Canadian gambling took a bit of a turn last month, as Alberta slammed the brakes on purchasing slot machines from America. As Trump’s tariffs wreak havoc, Alberta has led the charge with its own import charges on the hardware, as well as playing cards.
