Rode Capture app now supports Direct Connect for high-end microphones
Rode has announced a firmware update for its Wireless Pro and third-generation Wireless Go microphones, introducing a feature named Direct Connect. This update expands a capability previously reserved for the Wireless Micro model, allowing these devices to establish a direct Bluetooth connection with iPhones and iPads.
The functionality eliminates the requirement for an external receiver, streamlining the mobile recording setup for content creators. To utilize the Direct Connect feature, users must download and operate the Rode Capture application on their iOS devices.
Rode confirms that the Direct Connect transmission maintains the broadcast-quality audio standards associated with its wireless systems. The feature accommodates various recording requirements by supporting input from two transmitters simultaneously. Users can select between merged mode, which combines audio into a single stereo track, or split mode, which records each microphone onto separate channels.
This separation provides greater flexibility for audio editing and post-production workflows. The update delivers these capabilities to existing hardware through firmware, removing the necessity for customers to purchase new equipment.
