Is Stalker 2 on Game Pass?

You have to go back into the annals of time to 2012 to find when Stalker 2 was first announced, some five years before Game Pass even arrived fresh into the world. Had things gone to plan the sequel to the classic FPS would have pre-dated Microsoft’s subscription service by a good few years. Maybe in some alternate universe it did, but here having suffered cancellations, reboots, and even disruption by war we are finally on the cusp of its release. But will Stalker and Game Pass now meet up in our universe? Let’s have a look

Is Stalker 2 Heart of Chornobyl on Game Pass?

Great news for anybody who has become a Game Pass subscriber and also waited patiently for nearly 13 years for this trip back into the Zone. Pripyat may be a bit more overgrown than it was back then, and the radioactive half-life has dropped off by over a decade, but Stalker 2 is still going to be a dangerous game to wander into. You will however be able to find all this out for yourself if you have a Game Pass subscription because Stalker 2 will launch on the service on Day One (20th November).

As normal it is only the Standard version of the game that comes for “free” and the Deluxe and Ultimate versions are full-price purchases, but it is definitely enough to test out the waters and see how invested in Stalker 2’s universe you get.

Of course with it being so long between games, many players will potentially never have played another Stalker game and be keen to see what the fuss is. Expecting some bugs initially would be our advice but the devs have a great record of fixing things up and ultimately producing a classic.

Why is it called Heart of Chornobyl and not Chernobyl?

Over the years in the West, we have probably become more used to seeing the spelling as Chernobyl rather than Chornobyl. Indeed until 2022, the game’s subtitle was ‘Heart of Chernobyl’. However, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the title was changed to ‘Heart of Chornobyl’ to reflect the Ukrainian spelling, rather than the Russian. We also saw this as the West adopted Kyiv instead of the previously used Kiev. Don’t let anybody tell you that you don’t learn anything playing games!
