The popular mobile (and Nintendo Switch) game Star Wars Hunters was never slated to get a PC release, destined only to be carried around in people’s bags and pockets for all eternity. Now, out of seemingly nowhere, the multi-player droid ‘em-up has not only a January release date but a Steam playtest which is already open for sign-ups before going live in two weeks or so.
So what is Star Wars: Hunters and what do we know about the incoming PC version?
Star Wars Hunters PCStar Wars: Hunters is a fast-paced 4v4 arena shoot that has been well received on its other formats picking up some decent review scores along the way. It seemed odd at the time that there was no PC version slated, but it seems its publishers at Zynga have now decided there is space after all on the PC’s overcrowded Star Wars marketplace for this unique little take on the universe.
Zynga says, “Play as an incredible cast of characters – from an elite stormtrooper to a ruthless bounty hunter, cunning dark side assassins, and even a droid who thinks it’s a Jedi. Choose the Hunter that matches your playstyle and lead your team to victory.”
“We’ll be rolling out Steam Playtests in stages to make sure your experience with Star Wars: Hunters on PC is as smooth as possible, and to gather your invaluable feedback before we enter Early Access. This will give you a chance to jump in early, test new features, and help shape the game.
We’re so grateful for the amazing support you’ve shown us on Switch and Mobile, and we’re eager to bring that same community spirit over to PC. We want you to be a part of this journey and to help us take Star Wars: Hunters to the next level across all platforms.”

Star Wars Hunters PC PlaytestHere are all the dates you need for your calendars to take part in the playtest for Star Wars: Hunters before its PC launch. Sign-ups are open now on Steam, so head over and declare your interest.
Star Wars: Hunters does not look like it will be stretching your PC’s power so should be playable on older hardware and laptops. No news yet on Steam Deck compatibility. It’s currently ranked as Unknown and could end up being one of those games where anti-cheat scuppers its chances.
