SGA looks on amid the Game 1 anticipation

In a heated on-court battle, the Minnesota Timberwolves take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.

It’s the unstoppable force against the immovable object in the centrepiece of the NBA West, and with that comes opportunities to make the most of the action via the stats and odds on show.

Western Conference Finals Game 2 betting preview

Both teams have been consistent in their basketball approach, with the Wolves’ defence being the bedrock that got them to the finals. OKC has talent across the court with dynamic young players who have a penchant for flair and style.

The bookies have the Thunder as -200 favorites to take home the trophy, with the moneyline and spread not looking good for the Wolves in Game 2.

Spread
  • Timberwolves +7.5 (-105)
  • Thunder -7.5 (-115)
Moneyline
  • Timberwolves +260
  • Thunder -325

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA) has lit up the NBA this season and has been crowned the new prince of the parquet floor. He took home the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award ahead of New York’s Jalen Brunson and his rival tonight, Anthony Edwards.

SGA averages 31.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 9.0 APG, so it is no surprise his odds will be slashed, but he hunted the Wolves in Game 1, shooting 8-for-14 from the field in the second half alone. The Wolves managed a measly 40-second-half points overall against OKC’s titanic duo of Hartenstein and Homgren in contrast.

The new MVP hasn’t dipped below 36 PRA in his last ten games, a stark contrast to Edwards, who has struggled to reach an average of 30 PRA across these finals.

100% stats

Julius Randle dismantled the Golden State Warriors in the previous round, and his form has been consistent with 19.5 points in his last five games. Randle’s PRA, PR, and PA are also incredibly strong with 100% returns across the same period.

The only other player with a 100% record is Alex Caruso, who has won the hearts of critics and pundits with his performances, with a consistent 7.5 points per game in clutch moments. He also has an 80% record in his last five for his PRA alongside bench stalwart Carson Wallace.

The game tips off Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 8:30 p.m. ET (5:30 pm PST, 12:30 am UK) at the Oklahoma home turf, the Paycom Center.
