Apple plans to rename its operating systems, according to a report by Bloomberg. The new naming convention will designate operating systems by year, so the successor to iOS 18 will be iOS 26. The change is expected to be announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 9.
The report indicates that the shift to a year-based naming system across Apple products will promote consistent branding. Upcoming name updates include iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26.
In addition to the operating system rebrand, Apple is also expected to introduce new user interfaces at WWDC. Furthermore, the company plans to announce updates for AirPods, Siri, the Vision Pro headset, and introduce new artificial intelligence features.
