YouTube Music has rolled out a new feature that allows users to share song lyrics directly from the app. The feature, which was first spotted during an APK teardown carried out by Android Authority in January, is now available for some users, according to multiple reports on Reddit.
The lyrics-sharing feature on YouTube Music is similar to what other music streaming apps like Spotify already offer. To use it, users can navigate to the “Lyrics” tab while listening to a song and tap on specific lines to select them.
Once the desired lyrics are selected, users can create a custom image with the lyrics and a background color of their choice. The image also includes the song title and artist name.
The resulting image can be shared on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, or sent to family and friends via messaging apps. Users also have the option to save the image directly to their device.
The rollout of the feature appears to be ongoing, as it is not yet available on the latest version of the YouTube Music app (version 8.15.51). The feature might be part of a server-side update that is being rolled out to users in phases.
