Black Ops 6 Jackal PDW gets a nerf ahead of Beta Weekend 2 of new Call of Duty game

Tags: new testing
DATE POSTED:September 6, 2024

While last weekend’s first beta for Black Ops 6 was largely dominated by the amount of damage the Jackal PDW sub-machine gun was causing it seems as though it will not be the same case for this weekend’s final run at the game before its launch proper next month.

Black Ops 6 developer Treyarch has “tuned” the Jackal, and we assume tuned down rather than tuned up, after it quickly became obvious it was OP when compared to the other weapons in the game.

Indeed Treyach encouraged players to try something new in a post on X when the studio said, “Take a break from the Jackal PDW for a minute (it’s been tuned for Weekend 2 btw) and equip the all-new Tanto .22 full-auto SMG at Level 30”.

The new SMG could well become the favorite for this weekend then when players finally get the opportunity to try it out for the first time.

The full patch notes have not been released yet but there was an indication of some of things likely to be changed released in the aftermath of Beta Weekend 1.

Besides the Jackal issue, the biggest problem many faced with the opening round of beta testing was the incessant Packet Burst and Packet Loss errors that rendered many games unplayable. With the level cap now being raised to Level 30, many players will be hoping for a slightly smoother ride on the way to unlocking all the cosmetics available for completing the beta test and reaching the max level.

Beta Weekend 2 is likely to see many more players arrive in the game as it is completely open for three days, unlike last weekend’s beta offering which was exclusive to those who had pre-ordered Black Ops 6 or had obtained a beta code.
