Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will have no early access, Activision states

The number of games having early access as an option has been increasing in recent years, providing gamers the chance to get involved ahead of the ‘official’ release date.

Call of Duty titles jumped on this trend also, providing Campaign early access specifically, completely separate to that of any Betas.

Now, it appears that the newest iteration of the franchise – Black Ops 6 – will be skipping early access completely in favor of a unified launch.

This news comes off the back of a post from CharlieIntel which states that after conferring with its Activision rep, Campaign early access will not be a feature of the upcoming launch.

The official wording from this Activision representative is that “the team is fully focused on October 25th”, ensuring “the community gets to dig in to any and all modes that they want at the same time”.

This is then doubled down on, explicitly confirming no form of early access content, despite whether you pre-order or not – “there is no Early Access [to] beat this year for Black Ops 6, just the countdown to launch”.

BREAKING: Activision confirms there is no campaign early access for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Statement from Activision rep sent to us:

“The team is fully focused on October 25th. We are excited about all the game has to offer across Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies. This… pic.twitter.com/FlsiGwP9wA

As for why this decision has been made is currently unknown and since the release date is fast approaching, it’s unclear whether there will be any further clarification on the matter. ReadWrite has contacted Activision for comment.

What we do know though is that some fans of the franchise are not happy with the lack of Campaign Early Access.

Popular Call of Duty content creator ModernWarzone replied to the aforementioned CharlieIntel post with one word – “Terrible.” Whereas InfoCoDES, another avid CoD creator, suggested that it is “an incredibly bad decision” and a lot of Black Ops 6 owners will “not even play” the campaign.

Whether this will be the case is impossible to say but with Multiplayer being the usual go-to in Call of Duty titles, the Campaign player count could certainly suffer.
