Donald Trump launches next batch of NFT trading cards for campaign funding, Trump is seen speaking wearing a red tie and suit next to an image of a trading card with him wearing an Ironman suit and a Bitcoin shield

Donald Trump has launched a new collection of NFT trading cards as he attempts to raise funds for his presidential campaign. The former president has claimed that the digital trading cards have generated around $4 million with each of the four launches.

Speaking on his Truth Social platform, the Republican nominee said the cards were returning “by popular demand,” costing $99 each. The “America First” collection has 50 images of the businessman posing in various scenarios, including wearing a knock-off Ironman costume with a Bitcoin logo, as well as his own line of golden shoes.

Trump has dubbed himself the “crypto president” as he attempts to court crypto-friendly voters ahead of November’s election. In the video, he stated: “You know, they call me the crypto-president, I don’t know if that’s true or not, but a lot of people are saying that.”

The former Apprentice star has promised physical gifts with some of the trading cards, including pieces of his suit from his debate with President Joe Biden, as well as tickets to a Trump gala in Florida next month, which could set people back more than $7,000.

“People are calling it ‘the knock-out’ suit – I don’t know about that – but that’s what they’re calling it,” Trump he continued. Five physical cards will also be autographed, which he said could be something “to give your family, your kids, your grandchildren.”

People have taken to X to mock the cards, calling it “weird” and a “joke.”

Trump is a SNL skit. 70 days before the election and huckster Trump is putting out DIGITAL collector cards for $99 each. You don't even get a physical card unless you buy 15 of them. He's a con artist and a joke. Why do you continue to send him money?? https://t.co/tQX5SZd0Yy

Trump: I’m not weird. I’m the opposite of weird.

*seconds later

Trump: Who wants to buy Trump trading cards? There are pictures of me dancing and wearing boxing gloves. Just like a non-weirdo.

Donald Trump’s shift toward cryptocurrency

In July, Trump revealed that cryptocurrencies accounted for 80 per cent of payments for his past NFT collections. His latest financial disclosure revealed that he now owns more than $1 million in cryptocurrency.

Trump said he was surprised by the popularity of crypto payments: “The thing I really noticed was everything was paid in—I would say almost all of it was paid in crypto, in this new currency. And it opened my eyes.

“It was incredible. So, NFTs are, you know, I did the—very successful. We had one year to sell it out and it sold out in one day. The whole thing sold out: 45,000 of the cards. And I did it three times [and] I’m going to do another one, because the people want me to do another one. It’s unbelievable spirit.”
