Ethereum (ETH) non-fungible token (NFT) game Fantasy Top just expanded on to the new layer one blockchain Monad.
According to a recent X post by Fantasy Top, Monad users can now claim 15 cards in the game compete for prizes and earn one of the over 5,000 whiteliste spots on the platform. The announcement continues:
“The first competition kicks off tomorrow—you have 24 hours to study up and build your decks.”
The game originally launched on the Ethereum (ETH) layer-2 network Blast. Now it is also part of the Monad Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible (EVM) blockchain.
Being EVM-compatible for a blockchain means that smart contracts — the decentralized programs that power decentralized apps (DApp) — meant to run on the Ethereum blockchain are supported with very little to no changes. Making new blockchains EVM-compatible is a very popular choice since Ethereum is the blockchain that introduced smart contracts and its Solidity language has the most smart contract-specialized developers.
The detailsFantasy Top mirrors traditional fantasy sports games, but replaces the sport stars with crypto influencers from X — formerly Twitter — and calls them “heroes.” Instead of earning points by scoring goals and such, “heroes” earn their points by scoring good social engagement metrics.
Hero cards of major crypto influencers can be inserted by Fantasy Top players into their lineups for each competition round. New cards are also being introduced amid an expansion to the Monad blockchain. A Fantasy Top X post reads:
“This immersive Monad experience introduces never-before-seen Heroes and gives players the chance to win whitelist spots for the most hyped NFT collections launching on Monad mainnet!”
New “heroes” include Khallid4397, internbrah, kryptobaby777 and JohnWRichKid. Fantasy Top first launched in May 2024, reaching over $21 million in weekly trading volume and 31,000 users just after launch, according to industry news outlet Decrypt.
