FanDuel has rolled out a new responsible gaming tool designed to help players stay in control and make smarter choices about how much they spend.

At the SBC Summit America’s Player Protection Symposium on Thursday (May 15), the Flutter Entertainment-owned brand introduced a new AI-powered feature called Real-Time Check-In.

During the panel, they explained that this tool uses a mix of data and machine learning to analyze each player’s deposit habits and create personalized models to help promote safer play.

FanDuel says that Real-Time Check-In will step in and ask players to take a closer look if a deposit doesn’t match their “established deposit pattern.”

Along with giving players the option to set and lower their deposit limits, the feature is also connected to FanDuel’s My Spend tools, which were introduced last year to help users track and manage their gaming activity.

Flutter Entertainment said it drew inspiration for the tool from its Australia-based Sportsbet brand’s Real Time Intervention (RTI) model when developing this feature for the US market. The company said that RTl, which launched in 2022, is now active for 90% of Sportsbet customers.

FanDuel says Real-Time Check-In uses AI to help players

Cory Fox, senior vice president of public policy and sustainability at FanDuel, said: “Last year, we saw how providing personalized insights into a customer’s activity through My Spend can help them to better manage their play. We also know deposit is a key moment in the customer journey.

“Now we’re able to use machine learning to provide a new level of support through Real-Time Check-In encouraging customers to reflect on how much money they’re depositing and if it’s within their budget.”

This isn’t the first time FanDuel has turned to artificial intelligence to support its users. In March, ReadWrite reported that the company introduced a new chat feature called AceAI, designed to give bettors helpful data insights and guidance to assist with placing bets.

Right now, AceAI is only available to about 1% of FanDuel’s large user base. The company hasn’t said yet whether it plans to roll out the feature more widely in time for the start of the new NFL season in September.
