Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix – Upgrade benches, what they do, and where to find them all

Chapter 2 of Fortnite’s Remix mode is proving popular with old and new players alike but if you are just diving in having only played Fortnite over the last couple of years, some of the mode’s mechanics may be causing you a little stress.

Besides having to get used to a brand new (brand old) map and all its historical Points of Interest, Chapter 2 of Remix harks back to Chapter 2 of Fortnite OG.

One of the new features that is in Remix that was never there back in the day is the relatively new Upgrade Benches where you can customize your weapons (almost) to your heart’s content.

But first, you need to know where the benches are generally located and be very much aware that other players are probably heading for them too. So strap in and prepare for a firefight with your unmodded weapon before you get to tweak it to something stronger.

There are plenty of upgrade benches scattered around the Chapter 2 Remix map and you will almost always find them close by to a Point of Interest. This makes them doubly dangerous in a way because even if other players are not seeking out the bench itself, chances are there will be some in the local vicinity because of the POI. Hey ho, such is life. You don’t get the winner’s trophy for avoiding the big fights all the time.

All of your weapons, apart from mythics are upgradable at the benches but cost Gold Bars to do so. Any upgrade you purchase at an Upgrade Bench – and this is important to bear in mind – will not carry over should you upgrade your weapon variant in the future. So if you are planning on a hefty upgrade, you should be also planning to stick with the same weapon for the duration.
