HTC unveils Vive Focus Vision XR headset for high-end gaming

HTC has unveiled its new Vive Focus Vision XR headsets for high-end gaming fans. The new extended reality (XR) headset is the latest in the Taiwanese manufacturer’s virtual reality and mixed reality Vive Focus series.

According to a company statement, there have been major improvements and new features to give gamers and enterprise users an immersive experience for PCVR and standalone gaming.

HTC Vive Focus VR headset key features

It has integrated eye tracking, so users will be able to share the headset with others, and it is reported that it will automatically adjust the interpupillary distance of the lenses for optimal visuals every time.

The device also has up to a 120-degree field of view and a 90Hz refresh rate. Support for a 120Hz refresh rate via DisplayPort mode is expected to come later this year. It also has a combined 5k resolution across both eyes, a depth sensor for scene recognition, and an infrared sensor for enhanced tracking in low-light conditions.

The Vive Focus Vision arrives with a new DisplayPort Streaming kit, which connects to a computer and mains power so battery life isn’t a concern. It promises higher fidelity than anything you’ll manage over USB-C. It comes with a built-in sub-battery to keep the device running for up to 20 minutes while swapping batteries, so users never lose their place in an XR experience.

He added: “Now, PC gamers can bring the same high-end headsets used in VR arcades into their homes. We’re taking everything to the next level with built-in eye-tracking, stereo color passthrough cameras for depth-correct Mixed Reality, and even an infra-red sensor for enhanced hand tracking in low-light conditions.”

The HTC Vive Focus Vision will be on sale from October 1. Pre-orders are open now, with the product priced at $999.
