Nvidia announces AI Aerial platform that targets telecom market

DATE POSTED:September 20, 2024
A cinematic shot of a telecommunication tower with multiple aerials. In the foreground, there's a robot with a camera for its head, and multiple arms. One of the arms is holding a small robot. The background is a city with many buildings. The sky is cloudy.

Nvidia has launched AI Aerial, a suite of computing software and hardware tailored to the telecoms market which has a focus on the future.

The offering was announced on Wednesday (Sep.r 18) and aims to help providers with the designing, simulating, training, and deploying of AI radio access network technology (AI-RAN) for wireless networks.

It won’t just be the standard devices that the American company is focusing on. It hopes to serve the demands of new services and the needs of generative AI in robots, autonomous vehicles, and smart factories.

“NVIDIA AI Aerial enables telecommunications service providers to support teleoperations for manufacturing robots and autonomous vehicles, computer vision in manufacturing and agriculture, logistics, generative AI-driven co-pilots and personal assistants, emerging spatial computing applications, robotic surgery, 3D collaboration, and 5G and 6G advances,” says the company in the press release.

This is the world’s first AI-RAN platform which can host both generative AI and RAN traffic, as well as allowing for the integration of AI.

While its use cases span emerging technologies, the company says it will be “foundational to the multipurpose networks of tomorrow that rely on AI-powered telecommunications capabilities.”
