PancakeSwap, a leading multichain decentralized exchange (DEX), announces the launch of its v4 “Hookathon” in collaboration with Brevis and hosted on DoraHacks.
Following the launch of the PancakeSwap v4 whitepaper in March 2024, PancakeSwap has continuously engaged developers worldwide to contribute to PancakeSwap v4 through various hackathons like ETHGlobal Brussels and the ETHGlobal London Hackathon.
With the v4 launch on the horizon at the end of 2024, PancakeSwap introduces the first-ever v4 Hookathon with a $40,000 prize pool, and as part of its ongoing $500K Developers Program.
The hackathon offers developers the unique opportunity to innovate and build within the PancakeSwap v4 ecosystem and leverage the Brevis ZK-coprocessor to develop highly customizable smart contracts known as “Hooks” and showcase their work ahead of the official launch of PancakeSwap v4.
Unleashing Creativity and Technical ExcellenceThe v4 Hookathon aims to push the boundaries of what’s possible on PancakeSwap v4 by encouraging developers to innovate and develop Hooks that enhance functionality and address existing challenges. Participants will leverage the Brevis ZK-Coprocessor to create solutions that are innovative, technically robust, and user-friendly. Hooks can be integrated into any liquidity pool to execute predefined logic, offering unparalleled customization.
By utilizing the Brevis ZK-Coprocessor, participants can develop solutions that are not only technically robust but also highly user-friendly, tapping into comprehensive historical on-chain data from any blockchain while ensuring complete trustlessness.
“The v4 Hookathon is more than just a competition; it’s a celebration of the creativity and innovation that defines the DeFi space,” said Chef Momo, Product Manager at PancakeSwap. “We are thrilled to see what groundbreaking solutions the developer community will bring to life using the Brevis ZK-Coprocessor and Hooks with PancakeSwap v4.”
Why Build on PancakeSwap v4 with the Brevis ZK-CoprocessorPancakeSwap v4 introduces several new features designed to enhance the user experience and broaden the platform’s capabilities. The addition of Hooks allows for dynamic customization of liquidity pools, facilitating innovative features such as dynamic fees, active liquidity management, impermanent loss mitigation, and much more.
Brevis-powered Hooks further extend these capabilities by allowing the querying of historical data and the execution of operations in a trustless manner. This enables advanced use cases such as loyalty programs, exclusive user access, incentivization schemes, and more.
A Single Open Track to Encourage Diverse SolutionsTo encourage creativity, the v4 Hookathon features a single open track with a $40,000 prize pool, encouraging developers to address any existing pain points within the PancakeSwap ecosystem. From liquidity incentivization mechanisms and market-making bots to
exclusive-access pools and yield management solutions, the possibilities are vast and varied. For a full list of potential ideas, please visit the official official blog post.
Prize Distribution and Judging CriteriaThe v4 Hookathon promises a rewarding experience for participants, with prizes distributed to winners based on several key criteria, including ecosystem impact, innovation, technical excellence, usability, scalability, and end-to-end functionality. Prizes are awarded only if entries meet the judging and eligibility criteria which can be found here.
