Probably the greatest deckbuider of all time is getting a sequel – no it’s not Slay the Spire, say hello to Monster Train 2

Monster Train 2

This news, to this humble gaming journalist, is my equivalent today of a confirmed GTA 6 release date.

Shiny Shoe’s Monster Train was, for pretty much two years, my go-to everyday game. I’d completed Slay the Spire and wanted another deckbuilder and found, by accident Monster Train. It is a phenomenal game and one that too many people have not heard of. That’s not to say it wasn’t popular. It sold over 1.5 million copies and was also available on Game Pass – it was hugely successful and still has an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam today.

And yet you haven’t played it probably. But more good news before we get to the real good news. Monster Train is currently on sale at 90% off to celebrate the announcement of the sequel – the reason I am so giddy this morning.

So, here is your task for the day. Finish reading this page, and go and spend the $2 (ish) on this fantastic game. Do that.

But yes, news of Monster Train 2, a sequel which, if it turns out half as good as the first is going to live on my hard drives for the foreseeable future.

Here’s a little bit from the press release to whet your appetites, “Wage war against devious new enemy Factions by guiding five all-new playable Clans, each with their own strategic advantages empowering alternative battle styles. Shiny Shoe has shuffled hundreds of new and familiar cards into Monster Train 2, including the debut of additional card types; Room Cards supply powerful boosts to a single floor of the train, Equipment Cards stack new powers onto individual units, and fan-favorite Clan-agnostic Neutral Cards offer massive opportunities that can turn a dire tide. Experimentation is both rewarding and crucial for realizing the astonishing depth of Monster Train 2’s combat.”

Oh boy

There is even a Monster Train 2 demo available now which is downloading in the background as we speak.

We don’t have a release date other than Coming Soon, but we know it will be available on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch, so you really have no excuses.

Ooh, it’s just finished downloading, somebody check I am still alive in a few days, please.
