Retroid has revealed the specs for the upcoming Flip 2 handheld. Announced on February 14 on X, formerly Twitter, the handheld maker showed off the second edition of its clamshell handheld.
The Flip 2 will sport two processors, which are pretty much neck-and-neck for performance. Retroid will ship both the Qualcomm Snapdragon SD865 and Dimensity D1100, which both share the same specs outside of Bluetooth (D1100 supports 5.2 over the SD865’s 5.1) and charging speeds.
However, the Flip 2 appears to be incredibly close to the previously released Retroid Pocket 5. This includes the 5.5-inch AMOLED screen, rated at 1080p, 60fps. It’ll also sport the same Hall Effect sticks for reducing damage and stick drift.

On the storage front, it’ll have 128GB of onboard storage, and support a microSD card (listed as a TF slot).
Retroid also showed off the four colors it’ll come in. So far we’ve only seen the GameCube-inspired purple, but the company has now revealed an “Ice Blue” transparent version, as well as a 16-bit SNES-inspired color scheme. Of course, a standard Black version will also launch.

Based on reviews and community reactions to the Retroid Pocket 5, the Flip 2 could be an excellent alternative. While not exactly looked on fondly by Nintendo, the Pocket 5 is capable of playing some Nintendo Switch games via emulation.
The Flip 2 will run Android, as is typical for Retroid. This gives them far greater control to support games released on Android through the Play Store, as well as quick access to the massive amount of emulators out there.
Retroid also teased a second device in the background of the original Flip 2 announcement. However, the company hasn’t revealed what this is as of yet. Retroid also didn’t confirm a release date yet and the Flip 2 isn’t available for preorders.
