DATE POSTED:September 11, 2024

As the election campaigns heat up and debates take place between hopeful candidates, the current Vice President Kamala Harris has earned the public vote of Shake It Off singer Taylor Swift.

In the hours after the first debate between Harris and Trump, Taylor Swift took to Instagram to share her support and said a fake AI version of her had been wrongly shared on Donald Trump’s website.

The singer accompanied a photo of her and her cat with the caption: “Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.

“Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation.

“It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”

The pop star went on to say she will be casting her vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election” in a post which has already gained over seven million likes.

Taylor Swift’s history with Trump

Although the singer has avoided many political questions and discussions, she has supported Democratic candidates in the past. In 2018, she spoke out against United States Senator Marsha Blackburn and publicly supported the Democratic candidates in Tennessee.

In 2020, Swift endorsed Joe Biden and even tweeted Donald Trump saying: “After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? ‘When the looting starts the shooting starts’??? We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump.”

While politics isn’t her arena, the 34-year-old has a major pull with people worldwide. She is followed by over 284 million people on Instagram, all of whom will be able to see her endorsement.
