The highly-anticipated open-world racing game Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown drives onto the track in a little over a week’s time (12th September), and before we head to Hong Kong Island for Nacon’s “lifestyle and social experience that redefines what an open-world racing game can be,” the PC specs have been released showing exactly what is need to run the game perfectly.
Players who tried the Steam demo were treated to how beautiful the full-scale recreation of Hong Kong is but many also felt the burn with older graphics cards that couldn’t get anywhere near running the game at full fidelity. The specs tell a similar tale suggesting you will need a mighty 4090 to consider running the game at 4K Ultra settings, and even a 4070 or equivalent to get it up to High. These specs are quite punishing for many gaming PCs out there currently.
August’s Steam Hardware Survey which shows the most popular hardware used on the platform, listed less than 1% of players packing a 4090 and a mere 2.4 percent with a 4060. The most popular card is an RTX3060.
These requirements are considerably more high-spec than Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s rival Forza Horizon 5. In a sliver of good news, only 50GB of SSD is required compared to many games such as Call of Duty Black Ops 6, which will take up the best part of 200GB of space.
