Ash Ketchum defeats Lt Surge in Pokemon anime season 1

The Canadian company WildBrain will soon be housing the original Pokémon anime and will become the sole distributor for a single-IP free ad-supported TV channel that will only play the adventure classic.

The new home has come about due to a deal where WildBrain was selected to become the official partner to launch the brand’s only single IP channel.

This means the first 22 seasons of the iconic animated series will be available through the Canadian distributor. WildBrain is known as an entertainment company that typically focuses on children and family content.

It’ll be the United States though who first get access to the FAST channel, followed by Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. But the actual dates for its debut aren’t yet known and the details around which platform it could be based on aren’t available just yet.

The entertainment and brand licensing company has existing relationships with platforms like Samsung, LG, Roku, Tubi, and Pluto. They’ve also had previous experience with beloved series as they operate channels for Sonic, Super Mario, Teletubbies, and Strawberry Shortcake.

Pokémon brand hopes new deal will allow them to reach ‘new generation’

Lara Ilie, VP AVOD and FAST at WildBrain, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing Pokémon to FAST audiences as a single-IP channel for the first time ever.

“FAST is an important component of an omni-channel strategy to grow brands and reach fans everywhere they’re watching.

“As a leader in audience engagement for kids and families, we’re looking forward to leveraging our FAST expertise to reach the ever-growing Pokémon community.”

In the same press release, the senior director of media licensing at The Pokémon Company International Melissa Pearce said: “We always strive to deliver the joy of Pokémon to more fans around the world, and WildBrain is the perfect partner to help us introduce a new generation of Trainers to the beloved Pokémon animation.

“FAST provides an ideal platform for the Pokémon brand to connect with wider audiences, offering accessible and curated content in a family-friendly environment.”
